Death

In the cloud of smoke

I imagine what death is going to be

The death of swift and painless

Or slow and tortuous…..

The life of materialism is so useless

People running here and there

To gain an ounce of happiness which doesn’t even matter!!

Having the look in the deep sunken eye

All conveying the same thought

Why is he or that such a pain in the ass!!

While growing up, I never imagined such hollowness

The hollowness which can never be filled

No matter what you do, it still out there

Its rightly said man`s greed has no end.

I on the other hand have no wish, no worries to do this or that

All I wanted was a calm mind and the adolescent dream

I wanted to be with her and die holding her hands

The last image being that lovely face of hers

Alas!! It was planned something else

I only had her for borrowed time

The love, the hope all gone with her

She`s gone, the feeling of hopelessness is what I am left with

Sadly the time has come to carry on without her

But the dream of holding her hand still lingers inside

It`s such a pain and I don’t want that

Death please be swift and finish me off as effortless as permissible.

*Sigh* *Sigh* Why the hell do the i had to do that? Why couldn`t i have just listened to the people around me and done the right thing? Inspired by the poem "Road Not Taken", Harish for the first time went forward with his grand plans and did the right thing according to him.

Harish by nature was a carefree guy who never had dreams of his own. He used to do what others told him. He went to school and passed with good grades, all for the sake of his parents. He studied for engineering entrance test because his friends were doing it. Most of his friends had the dream of going to a perfect college and graduating with a perfect placement. And all Harish wanted to do was what his friends wanted to do. He had never given a serious thought to his life, career or even what was he going to do the next day. But all this changed after his coincidental meeting with a spiritual guru. The guru instilled a feeling of belief and pride in him and gave the "pravachan: Beta tu woh kar jo tera dil kahe......dusro ki mat sun....jo dil kare wahi kar" These were the life changing days for the young man who never cared for a thing in his life. After the departure of the Guru and his Pravachan, Harish went again back to his old ways.

One day he happened to catch hold of an old battered book in the library. Gazing and fast forwarding through the book, a thought provoking picture caught his attention. What he saw was a man with looking forward towards a road which was branching into two roads. One road was a busy road and everyone used to travel upon it. The other was a less frequent upon. Harish in order to satisfy his curiousity starting reading the poem. Externally he only took 5 minutes to read the poem but internally seeds of storm were being planted. He started thinking about his life and made a list of things which he wanted to do and the things he did because others did. List 2 was full and could have run into pages. List 1 had only Prerna. The girl whom he had crush upon in school. Due to some misfortune, he hasn`t been able to talk to her for years now. She was one being disappoint for him and now he harbours no feelings for her.

After reading that poem, something changed. His way of looking towards the same old things changed drastically. Lets say he became wiser and more worldly. And today was the first time he actually did what his heart told him and not what his friends told him. But sadly he failed miserably.
